New Delhi (PTI): GMR Sports, which owns the national capital’s team for the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL), on Saturday announced Hero Honda as the main sponsor of the team along with Kingfisher as the associate sponsor.
Sportswear brand Adidas will be handling uniforms of the ‘Delhi Daredevils’ led by ace batsman Virender Sehwag.
“The sponsors have been selected just four days back after the final auction,” GMR Sports CEO Yogesh Shetty told reporters.

Australian Adam Gilchrist is circumspect about the future of the Indian Premier League (IPL), but believes the Twenty20 format is the only way through which cricket can take roots in other countries.
“Twenty20 is a vital product for the growth of the game in countries less familiar with cricket. China has a great market and they are trying to learn the game. The new version of the game draws people. It will make them sit and watch the game,” Gilchrist said.

Calcutta: The Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) members will have to buy tickets to watch the Indian Premier League matches at the Eden.
CAB president Prasun Mukherjee said on Saturday that there would be no complimentary passes and ticket sales might get underway from April 1.
He also hinted that the association would have to remain content with the 20 per cent quota of tickets in each block.
