After rain threatened a washout, it was the Bangalore Royal Challengers who dampened the spirits of the Eden Gardens crowd, as the home team Kolkata Knight Riders were restricted to 129 for 7 in their allotted 16 overs.

Sourav Ganguly decided to bat in the curtailed contest, but a spirited display in the field from Bangalore soon had them in trouble. Aakash Chopra, the former India opener, came in to bolster a struggling top order, but he didn’t make much of an impact, with Dale Steyn trapping him plumb in front in the third over.

Something must happen everytime on eden garden, this time Rain disturbs the start of IPL match between Kolkata Knight Riders vs Bangalore Royal Challengers. This is the first time that rain has disturbed the match.

Great news! Match will start with following Changes:
- Match reduced to 16 overs per side
- 1 Bowler can bowl 4 overs, 3 can bowl 3 overs
- 10 min Break in between innings
- PowerPlay for the first 4 Overs

The drizzle has stopped once again and the covers are coming off slowly. The cut off time for today’s game is 2310 IST. We need atleast 5 overs-a-side to frame a match to bear a result as per the Twenty20 laws. Hope rain stays away…

The players were back on the field to go through some warm-up exercises. But alas! It has started raining again, a drizzle rather. The covers are slowly coming back onto the square and the groundstaff have some more work to do. This is not the best of news that I could have brought but this is true…

Some good news from the Eden Gardens finally. It has stopped raining here and the groundstaff are working away very hard to get it all set for play. If it doesn’t rain again, we should see some cricket happening very soon!

Update: From a steady shower, it has now come down to a slight mizzle. The supersoppers are working in full flow, it’s only the water on the surface of the covers which needs to be mopped up. No worries of drying the ground. Great facility to have such huge covers to cover the whole of the ground.

Partisan fans at the Feroz Shah Kotla were treated to a cracker of a match as the Chennai Super Kings pulled off a dramatic last-ball win, sneaking past Delhi Daredevils’ total of 187 for 5 by four wickets. Chennai’s chase veered from the authoritative to the bumbling but they kept their nerves and put an end to their three-game losing streak, thanks largely to some fearless hitting right through the order.

Chennai recovered somewhat to restrict the hosts to under 200 after Gautam Gambhir and Shikhar Dhawan added a record third-wicker partnership of 121 and that, in hindsight, proved critical before a thrilling chase helped them get back to their winning ways.
