Bangalore has offered to host Sunday’s IPL game against Jaipur, which was rocked by bomb blasts on Tuesday. Vijay Mallya’s team, which lost to Team Mohali on Monday, is still camped in Chandigarh.

“We have said we could host Sunday’s game but it’s up to the IPL,” chief cricket officer Martin Crowe told HT on Tuesday. “We’re waiting for (IPL commissioner) Lalit Modi to get back to us. We’re going to Delhi on Wednesday and will stay there a bit but would prefer to go back to Bangalore rather than proceed to Jaipur under the current circumstances.”

Modi incidentally, told HT from Kolkata that there was no truth in the rumours that the IPL had said the games would be shifted. Not as yet. “We’re still assessing the situation and will issue an official comment on Wednesday,” said Modi. Media manager Narendra Joshi, interestingly, said: “We will beef up the security but there’s no chance of switching venues.”

Meanwhile, while some of the Jaipur players are worried over the bomb blasts; they’re all adopting a wait and watch approach. “Most of us except Pankaj (Singh, who lives there) had moved out of town because we had a break, so we’re waiting to see what happens,” said a senior player.

A large group, including Shane Warne, Shane Watson, Graeme Smith, Darren Berry (director of coaching), Swapnil Asnodkar, Ravinder Jadeja, Taruwar Kohli, Kamran Akmal, Sohail Tanveer and Mohsin Sheikh (the performance analyst) were supposed to be in Goa over the four-day break.
