Punjabi XI Kings Cheerleaders cheering their team on match against Rajastan Royals
For the two cheerleaders from London who have levelled charges of racism at event marketing company Wizcraft, their experience may have left them shaken but they insist it is not an “indictment” of India. Both girls claimed it was an “isolated incident” and that they are yet to experience racism elsewhere in India.
“I don’t believe India is racist,” Ellesha Newton, one of the girls, said in a matter-of-fact manner.
Newton and Sherinne Anderson, who alleged that they were asked to leave the Mohali ground without performing on April 19 because their “skin is too dark”, addressed the press in Mumbai on Thursday along with Jorge Aldana, director of Fierce Performance Production, which employs the girls as dancers. Wizcraft has been hired by actress Preity Zinta for her Indian Premier League team, the Punjab Kings XI.

The Maharashtra government on Friday indicated a ban on cheerleaders at IPL T20 matches may not be enforced saying prima facie “there appears to be no violation of obscenity norms”.
“There is a ban on dance bars in the state, not on dance,” Deputy Chief Minister R R Patil told mediapersons.
However, Patil, who holds the Home portfolio, made it clear that if any police official feels the performance of cheerleaders at the forthcoming matches as obscene, he can take “necessary action”.

Mumbai: Taking objection to “scantily clad foreign girls’ dances”, the Maharashtra government Thursday asked the Indian Premier League (IPL) to seek prior permission for cheerleaders’ performances during high-profile Twenty20 cricket matches.
Maharashtra Minister of State for Home Siddharam Mhetre told reporters Thursday that the organizers of the cricket events will have to seek the state government’s permission for cheergirls’ dance shows during the matches - something they had not done before last week’s IPL match here.
“The scantily clad foreign girls’ dances are certainly obscene and do not gel with the Indian sensibilities, culture and ethos,” the minister said.

Much more was expected from Deccan Chargers and they failed again. All top batsmen left the crease without any significant score.Shahid Afridi even dissapoints everyone in his IPL debue,he only scored 2 runs.Match is not finished yet! (82/6 in 16 overs) but i think Delhi daredevils will sort out 2 points from this game unless miracle happens. The only thing i liked of Deccan Chargers is their lovely cheerleaders, hah, they haven’t dissapointed me,hottest among all other teams cheerleaders.
